It's hard to imagine that just over three years ago when 6 year old Gina Marie stood behind home plate at a Houston Astros Spring Training game it would catapult her into a life of a little vocal star.
This little girl has quite a story. Diagnosed with autism at age 2 and unable to speak until age 3 Gina Marie Incandela is an example of hope and the embodiment of what it means to overcome obstacles. She is the one of the Nations most popular young National Anthem performers, has recorded her own music and has spent the past year singing across the country for various events with artists such as Jordin Sparks, Johnny Bulford, Drew Seeley, The Naked Brothers Band, Demi Lovato, David Archuletta and The Jonas Brothers.
She has been featured on several National TV shows including, ABC News, Inside Edition, The Today Show, Good Morning America, The Daily Buzz, CNN and CBS Evening News with Katie Couric. Gina's story can be found in the January/February edition of American Girl Magazine.
Having over 150 performances under her belt since she started performing in 2008 Gina has transformed into an amazing young star. She has performed the National Anthem for major sporting events including the 2008, 2009 and 2010 US Open Tennis Championships and has sung for Major League Baseball, the NHL and the NBA. In 2009 Gina distinguished herself as one of the Country's most talented and popular performers when she riveted millions with her booming rendition of the National Anthem during the 2009 NBA Finals. She returned to perform in the Playoffs again this year as a crowd favorite. The combined views on her youtube channel exceed 1,000,000.
Gina has been described by industry experts as "the one in a million voice". Her vocal talent is immense and extraordinary. She sings with the power of an adult but with the purity of heart of a child. She is as sweet and loving as she is talented and this little girl has already received the prestigious national Daily Points of Lights Award from the Points of Light Institute in recognition of her community volunteer efforts and raising awareness for various causes. On July 25, 2009 the Mayor of Orange County, Fl, Richard Crotty proclaimed it to be "Gina Marie Incandela Day" where he described Gina as "a beacon of hope and inspiration". Gina was a runner up for Orlando Sentinel's "Central Floridian of the Year" along with NBA Allstar Dwight Howard and an extraordinary line up of community heroes. On January 11, 2010 she was awarded the Governor's Point of Light Award by then Florida Governor, Charlie Crist. Recently, she was invited by Florida's new Governor, Rick Scott to perform at two events at the Governor's inauguration.
